“I’d like to take the opportunity to convey my appreciation and thanks for Melissa Tan from ERA, who has helped me secure my new property at 10, Harbourfront Ave, #03-13, and provided a wonderful experience in the process. I had initially approached Melissa back in 2022 after a series of rather frustrating efforts securing a new property with other agents, including unsuccessful ballots and a lack of focus as they had their attention fixed on pushing bulk sales at new launches. Caveat here: Melissa has been known to my family for years, as she is helping us manage our rental properties. However, this was the first time I’ve engaged her to find a new property for myself. Before embarking on property viewing, Melissa had taken time to speak to me, to understand at length my ambitions, requirements, budget limits, preferred locations etc. I imagine the conversation not only tightened and focused the brief, it also reassured me of her intent and interest in my needs. 2. Challenging assumptions. The mark of any good consultant is the ability to challenge pre-conceived notions and offer options that may end up being of greater benefit to the client. I had initially wanted a property on the east coast to be close to parents while being less far from my office in One North. I was challenged to expand my horizons to explore regions further out, including Holland and the City area, but with sensitive handholding to step me through key rationales including long term property price growth, location and accessibility, and also… 3. Understanding emotional drivers. While property searches are transactional on paper, emotional drivers are equally important factors. In this case, the efforts Melissa took to better grasp my emotional drivers, unpacking the ‘glamour’ aspects of moving to a more central area, aims and ambitions of being able to find a forever home - were important to someone like me. This resulted in 1. Fewer viewings, comprising units that best fitted budgets and requirements while saving time 2. A quick, yet well informed, decision to purchase. The dramatic reveal of a phenomenally picturesque showroom setting did A LOT to help in the decision making process! In short, Melissa, thank you for making what would have been an arduous experience short and effective, and brought joy back to a souring journey.”
